The article places the new Interinstitutional Agreement on better law-making – concluded between the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the European Commission – in the broader context of transparency of the decision-making process of the European Union, more specifically by having regard to lines of case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union. This new interinstitutional agreement aims at achieving better law-making by employing various initiatives and procedures set out therein. The main directions of the instrument will be dealt with, and a tentative answer to the following question concerning the novelty of those issues will be attempted: Is this interinstitutional agreement innovative or, conversely, will it maintain the status quo?
